HIPAA 5010 conversion is making headway, despite delays

The industry is making strides in the HIPAA 5010 conversion, despite glitches that led the CMS to push back the compliance date to June 30, writes WEDI board member Debbi Meisner. Health groups using the 5010 standards are starting to see benefits such as consistency in claims processing, and complying with the HIPAA mandate could prove most beneficial for the impending ICD-10 switch, she notes.
